The idea behind the hashtag #10forSTEMS

The hashtag #10for STEMS is PACES’ signature campaign to raise funds in support of university scholars selected under its STEMS70 Scholarship Program.

It is an appeal for support.

PACES has identified 4 scholars in the Philippines. They are engineering students, currently in their 3rd or 4th year of an engineering course in the coming Philippine school year. They were selected from applicants from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao in various universities and degree programs in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

PACES is supporting them because their families cannot afford to finance their studies due to inadequate income or financial difficulties.

Doing the math

It costs about EUR 3,000 to send one student to university for 2 semesters in the Philippines. This includes the cost of tuition and school fees, a modest allowance for textbook and required uniforms, a monthly living allowance for the scholar’s daily subsistence, daily transportation, clothing, and other needs.

We would like to raise money for 4 deserving scholars.

Help us reach our goal!

After all expenses are considered, PACES estimates that at least 18,000 Euros would be needed to support our initial 4 scholars to finish their engineering degrees. That equates to roughly 1 million pesos! While this may seem like a lot of money, we basically would only need about 150 pledges to reach this goal.

Help us reach our goal by pledging #10forSTEMS today. That is just a commitment of 10 euros per month for 1 to 3 years.

In Vienna, today, 10 euros will only get you 5 cups of coffee or 4.5 one-way tickets on the U-bahn. But in the Philippines, that 10 Euros can help a deserving student attain a college degree and mold the future economic, social and technological leaders of tomorrow.

Isn’t that an investment worth making?
